A good overview of mobile audio can be found on the rec.audio.car FAQ. Section 5, "Installation" describes how you can go about adjusting your system for a "flat" response.
Using a test CD and a sound pressure meter, I came up with the following settings for the DSP:
80 | 200 | 500 | 1k | 2k | 5k | 12k |
+3 | -1 | +1 | +2 | +4 | +6 | +7 |
Now, overall, I would have to say that I think the "premium" sound system sucks given its price. The imaging is terrible, the lower bass is non existant, and the DSP is little more than a gimmick. Even approaching a flat response curve is impossible. What's worse, I found that the frequency levels varied significantly from inch to inch. That is, as I moved the SPL from side to side, I found huge fluctuations in sound level for a constant frequency!
Anyhow, the settings above were the best that I could come up with. Good luck!
YMMV
